A short bit about our school…
Ryelands Primary School is situated in the city of Lancaster, approximately 1 mile from the city centre. The building is an attractive, well-resourced environment. We have excellent resources throughout the curriculum and in each classroom. There are thirteen classrooms, a library, two computer suites, a hall, small food technology room, large airy fully equipped staffroom and three offices. We also have a Nursery which is in a separate building. We have four playgrounds and a huge field. We have an adventure playground and an outside reception classroom. We have seating areas, play tables, picnic area, willow structure, orchard, vegetable plots, bog garden, wildlife area and cycle sheds.
We are a Flagship School for Food for Life project. We have gained recognition and accreditations for being a Healthy School and Investors in People. We have had many successes including being awarded the Green Partnership Lifetime Achievement Award, we have cups and trophies for football and rugby, we won many cups, rosettes etc at the Horticultural Show and we have the Active Mark for P.E. and Sports. Our netball team represent Lancashire. We are held up as a model of excellent practice for inclusion.
We have 22 teachers including a full time non classed based SENCo, 31 teaching assistants, 1 learning mentor, 2 secretaries and 14 welfare staff who are all committed to providing the best care, education and welfare of our children.
